About the Event

Come along to an Introduction to Foraging Walk and begin your own foraging journey! Explore the incredible abundance of wild edibles, as we take a walk through Plessey Woods, an enchanting woodland along the River Blyth. This is a more indepth course style event designed for complete beginners or those looking to boost their confidence with wild food foraging.

- What to Expect -

🌱We'll look at how to get started with foraging, how to research and identify wild edibles, how to find find them and how you can continue building your knowledge and confidence.

🌱How to forage safely and within the law.

🌱How to act sustainably when out and about.

🌱You will learn how to correctly identify around 12 wild edibles, which can include flowers, fruits, foliage and fungi.

🌱How to use wild food in the kitchen, including tips on how to prepare, store and preserve them and make the most of your harvest.

🌱We'll also look at the medicinal and nutritional benefits of the wild edibles we come across.

- What to Bring -

Please dress for the unpredicatable British weather, and wear whatever footwear you feel comfortable in.

At this time of year, please expect the paths to be muddy.

Feel free to bring a notepad and pen if you want to take notes along the way.

- Accessibility -

This route is through woodland and although the paths are surfaced, they can be uneven and very muddy. depending on the weather. There is a large car park with free Blue Badge parking available, and the wood is accessible via a short walk from local bus routes. There are public facilities at the park, as well as a cafe. If you have any accesibilty requirements  I ask that you can please get in touch before booking just to make sure that this route is right for you.

- Extra Information -

There is plenty of parking at the country park but it is pay and display only so please make sure you take this into consideration.

This is an adult only event. For child friendly events, please look at the Wild Food Foraging Walks, or Foraging With Kids sessions.
