About the Event
Come along on a 1940s inspired foraging walk and explore the incredible abundance of wild edibles, as we take a walk along the ancient hedgerows of West Benridge Farm, Morpeth. Running as part of the Northumbrian Revival festival, a celebration of mid 20th century life, encompassing the years of World War II to the swinging 60s, we'll be exploring how foraging for wild edibles, a traditional countryside practice was utilised during the 1940s, while Britain was at war.
- What to Expect -
🌱You will learn how to correctly identify around 15 different wild edibles, which can include flowers, fruits, foliage and fungi.
🌱We'll be covering how to forage safely and within the law.
🌱How to act sustainably when out and about, and why it's important for you and the landscape.
🌱You will learn why it's beneficial to know your local landscape and why this information can be important to us as foragers.
🌱I'll be sharing recipes, hints and tips from the 1940s showcasing how native wild plants were used to supplement rationing.
All levels of interest are welcome, and children aged 14 and under can come along for free with an adult.
