About the Event
Come along to a Wild Food Foraging Walk and explore the incredible abundance of wild edibles, as we take a walk through Attlee Park and Bedlington Country Park, an area of ancient woodland which runs along the River Blyth, searching for seasonal wild edibles as we go.
- What to Expect -
🌱You will learn how to correctly identify wild edibles, which can include flowers, fruits, foliage and fungi.
🌱How to forage safely and within the law.
🌱How to act sustainably when out and about.
🌱How to use wild food in the kitchen, including tips on how to prepare, store and preserve them and make the most of your harvest.
🌱We'll also look at the medicinal and nutritional benefits of the wild edibles we come across.
- What to Bring -
Please dress for the unpredictable British weather, and wear whatever footwear you feel comfortable in.
Feel free to bring a notepad and pen if you want to take notes along the way.
- Accessibility -
This route is through woodland and fields and the paths can be difficult in places due to incline and mud. There is plenty of free parking available at Attlee Park. There are no toilet facilities available nearby. If you have any accessibility requirements I ask that you can please get in touch before booking just to make sure that this route is right for you.
- Extra Information -
Children under the age of 14 are free to attend all of the Wild Food Foraging Walks so long as they come along with a paying adult.
