About the Event
It is a common belief that you need to live deep in the countryside to enjoy foraging, but once you start to look closer at the pockets of green spaces hiding in plain sight around towns and cities, you’ll wonder why you never saw it all before!
Come along to a Wild Food Foraging Walk and explore the incredible abundance of wild edibles, as we take a walk through East Cramlington Nature Reserve, an area of pine woodland on the outskirts of Cramlington.
- What to Expect -
🌱You will learn how to correctly identify wild edibles, which can include flowers, fruits, foliage and fungi.
🌱How to forage safely and within the law.
🌱How to act sustainably when out and about.
🌱How to use wild food in the kitchen, including tips on how to prepare, store and preserve them and make the most of your harvest.
🌱We'll also look at the medicinal and nutritional benefits of the wild edibles we come across.
- What to Bring -
Please dress for the unpredicatable British weather, and wear whatever footwear you feel comfortable in.
Feel free to bring a notepad and pen if you want to take notes along the way.
- Accessibility -
This route is mostly over level ground, but it is over grass and could be muddy. If you have any accesibilty requirements I ask that you can please get in touch before booking just to make sure that this route is right for you.
- Extra Information -
Children under the age of 14 are free to attend all of the Wild Food Foraging Walks so long as they come along with a paying adult.
