Wild Food Foraging in Northumberland

Based in Northumberland, The Cramlington Forager was created to challenge the idea that you need to live deep in the countryside to enjoy foraging and to encourage people to connect with nature and to treasure and explore their local green spaces. It can often be difficult to find the time, energy or even the courage to get out and explore the hedgerows and foraging can be an empowering way of increasing your knowledge of the natural world whilst being able to enjoy delicious wild food! Come along on a Wild Food foraging adventure and engage with the seasons and all that they have to offer! Discover the incredible abundance of edible wild plants, fruits, mushrooms and flowers, how to identify them, gather, prepare and store them to enjoy all year round.

Wild Food Guides

Foraging sustainably for wild food, come with me as I share more about wild plants and fungi, experimenting with them in the kitchen and exploring their nutritional and medicinal benefits, as well as the rich history and folktales which  surround these plants.

Seasonal Recipes

These simple and delicious recipes are inspired by seasonal ingredients, from the wild and elsewhere. I share tips on how to make the most of them as well as how to preserve them, making the seasonal bounty last a little bit longer.

Wild Spaces

Living in an urban town, access to hedgerows, parks and woodlands can be limited. Come along as I explore the wilder side of Cramlington and  Northumberland, finding how often it is the smallest nooks hiding in plain sight that offer the greatest experiences.
